The Johnson Christmas Party

Each year a few days before Christmas Day, Jimmy and I host a gathering for all of his family--his parents, siblings, aunts and uncles, and cousins (plus all of their spouses and children). We had a smaller crowd than usual this year, but it was still loads of fun! Each family brought an appetizer or dessert, and I provided Subway sandwich trays, hot chocolate, hot apple cider, coke and sweet tea.

I covered my kitchen table with white newsprint and placed markers in paper cups. The children as well as the adults enjoyed drawing Christmas pictures and writing messages. The children also gathered in the schoolroom and completed various crafts, played with blocks, legos, and entertained one another on the piano.

The men and women tended to hang out separately. The men in the kitchen and den, and the women in the dining room. Much laughter was heard throughout the house, and we had a super time!

Here are some pictures from the night.

I just wanted you to know how I enjoy reading it - you are so encouraging and organized!! Also I am trying to start running :), I have done a 5K each May the past 3 years, but I really want to start running on a more regular basis, but I am having such a hard time getting motivated... any suggestions?

  3. I found you from Boo Mama's blog roll.
I love the idea of hosting a party a few days before Christmas. It would make Christmas Eve and Day seem less hectic. :)
    Nice to meet you!
