New Year's Eve we invited our friends, Scott and Barbara Doles, their children Carrie Ann and husband Ray, and Jonathan and his friend Katy to join us in ringing in the new year. For the past several years Kelly and Lynn have hosted a New Year's Eve Party for our church family, but this year they traveled out of town, so we had to make different plans!
I served hot chicken dip for our appetizer, and everyone played Legos and Scrabble while Barbara and I prepared the homemade pizzas for our supper. After eating, we ventured to our "Wii Room" for a couple of hours of American Idol karaoke! I stayed in the kitchen for a little while doing the dishes, and I could hear the guys singing as clearly as if they were in the room with me! Too funny! We all took turns singing both solo and in pairs, and then we had a friendly competition! We chose tournament mode on the game, and we were all judged by Randy, Paula, and Simon. Hilarious! After Julie and Scott were chosen the winners of this game, we had one more competition. We went head to head, two people at a time, and the winner played the next person. Jonathan beat his first two challengers, but when it came time for him to go against Olivia, he was in for a treat! They tied twice, but then Olivia eventually scored higher. I think we declared Olivia the champion!
getting all set up and ready to sing
Jonathan is normally quiet and reserved.....not on this night. He was belting out those songs!
the newlyweds--Carrie Ann and Ray
they were excellent singers!
Olivia (crocheting when it wasn't her turn), Julie, Scott, and Barbara

After singing, we moved to the den to play a fun game of Guesstures. I have had this game since I was in high school. I am not sure if they still sell this game, but it is a great game! We played boys against girls, and the boys won! I am not sure how...but they beat us pretty badly. We laughed and laughed! About 11:30, Sam was ready for bed, and Leah conked out in a chair in the den around 11:45. We turned on the TV to see the countdown about 5 minutes until midnight.
just a minute until 2010
Happy New Year!
We are all trying to make a 10 with our fingers!
What a fun night! I wish we were closer by so we could be with ya'll too. BTW, you're house looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI have Guesstures, too. And I've had it since college, at least, maybe earlier. The difference is I haven't played it since then and I still have it! The kids and I did work a puzzle yesterday, though. And we had ALL the pieces!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I'm at the Apple store checking your blog since we don't have internet! Ha!
