The Green Street Mile

This morning at 7:00 AM, our entire family ran the Green Street Mile, an annual race sponsored by the Tupelo Running Club and held on July 4th each year.  We joined about 80 other runners for this fast race.  This is the first year that I have run this race since I was still pushing the stroller!  I ran with Sam, but he "turned on the speed" the last tenth of the mile and left me in the dust.  I recorded our times in the left sidebar under "Race Results".  Olivia, Julie, and Clay all improved their mile time from last year.  This was Julie's first time to race since her heat stroke in May.  She did fantastic!

I did take a few pictures with Jimmy's phone....but he is still running, and I will have to wait until he gets a chance to download them.  He is doing his medium or long run today.  Jimmy has two upcoming marathons...the Tupelo Marathon in 9 weeks, and the St. George Marathon in 14 weeks.

I have decided that 2012 is going to be the year for not so much running for me.  I am in a little bit of a slump.  However, 2013 will be a great running year for me!  I will begin my 2013 running season with a bang!  The Disney Marathon in January.  I just hope I can get a decent amount of training miles in.  I am still in such a running limbo.....I know that I will be having surgery again in August or September (I hope to get a more definite date later this month when I visit my surgeon again).  After that, I will not be able to run again for 5-6 weeks. I still tire easily when running, and I feel like I am so out of shape.  I mean how long does it take to recover from major surgery???  I have planned 3 more runs this week of 4, 4, and 5 miles.  It is so hot here that I guess I will do those runs on my treadmill.

Happy 4th of July everyone!
