Happy New Year

We had a fabulous time last night at Kelly's and Lynn's house. We joined many, many other families from our church and our community to welcome in the new year. Except that we left before midnight! I think that most of the families left early, because we had bad weather. It was stormy--thundering and lightning, and there were tornado watches for us and warnings for areas not so far from us. Anyway, we had such a good evening. Kelly cooked his famous chili, and the rest of us brought all kinds of appetizers and desserts.

Throughout the house, people played games of Scrabble, Phase 10, Rummikub, and Mexican Train Dominoes. I sat at a table where two separate games of Phase 10 were being played, and after my group finished our first game of Phase 10, one of my friends taught us how to play Mexican Train Dominoes. What fun! I love to play games, and I am always happy to learn a new one. I plan to buy our family a set of dominoes the next time I go to town!

During all of the game playing, Jimmy conducted a fireworks show for the children...outside in the rain. I didn't go outside to actually watch the fireworks, but from the dining room, they sounded very exciting. In fact, all of us ladies jumped out of our seats many times--the loud booms surprised us!

We arrived home around 11:30, and after I got sleepy Sam and Leah settled in bed, I joined Julie in our den to watch the ball drop on Times Square. How exciting! Julie and I told each other "Happy New Year", and then we went to bed.

I am planning a post about New Year's Resolutions. Hopefully I can get it published today, since today is New Year's Day.

Happy New Year!
